The Grammy Award-winning Indian slide guitarist Vishwa Mohan Bhatt makes a special appearance in Edmonton for a concert at the Winspear Centre on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 8 pm with UAlberta Indian and West African Ensembles opening. The UAlberta concert season ends on a high note at the Winspear centre Sunday, April 7, 8 pm with a grand choral and orchestral concert featuring the University Symphony Orchestra, Madrigal Singers, Concert Choir and Augustana's Mixed Choir performing one of Mozart's finest choral masterpieces, The Grand Mass in C-Minor, conducted by Petar Dundjerski, Rob Curtis, Dr. Ardelle Ries and Dr. Leonard Ratzlaff.

Vishwa Mohan Bhatt plays the Winspear on Friday, April 5. The Indian and West African Ensembles will both perform as part of the U of A’s annual World Music Sampler show before Bhatt takes on the second half of the concert with his tabla percussionist Subhen Chatterjee.

UAlberta Music Assistant Professor Dr. Smallwood has created a series of sound works based on pumpjack recordings in the Edmonton region. One of his recent electroacoustic oil well compositions, Elevating Results (2012), is featured in the program for Ultra, March 22 at 8 pm in Convocation Hall.
